The Indian Institute of Governance and Leadership presents the Diploma in Public Policy, a comprehensive academic programme designed to introduce students to the theory and practice of policymaking in contemporary governance. The programme aims to develop a new generation of policy thinkers, administrators and public leaders who understand not only how governments function, but why governments make the decisions they do.
Public policy shapes everyday life. Decisions relating to education, employment, urban planning, technology, environment, public health, welfare and economic development all emerge from policy choices. Yet most citizens encounter policy only as beneficiaries or critics, not as trained participants. This course bridges that gap by enabling students to understand the processes through which problems are identified, agendas are formed, decisions are taken and programmes are implemented.
The course combines conceptual foundations with practical exposure to Indian policy processes while also situating them within a global context.
Objective of the programme is to offer students the opportunity to become agents of change in governance, development and public decision making. This academic program has been designed and conceptualized by the stellar advisory council which comprises eminent personalities active in the field of governance, public leadership, administration and policy research. Graduates of the program can move on to careers in Government, Public Administration, Development Sector, Think Tanks, Corporate Public Affairs, Journalism and allied fields.
IIGL is a pioneer national level institution committed to creating informed and responsible public leaders and to imparting one of its kind academic programs designed and conceptualized by its governing and advisory council consisting of senior bureaucrats, policy practitioners, academicians and institutional leaders.
